Question - Ground Loop Isolator
Hey guys. So I got a ground loop isolator by stinger and my question is:
do I need 2 of them if I have a 4 channel amp? if not, how do I connect the
male rca's from the SGLI to the amp? theres 2 male connectors on the SGLI and 4 female on my amp for each channel. hope to see some feedback from professionals. thanks!

Can't rid yourself of the ground loop?? I'm not a fan of using a ground loop isolator unless you absolutely can't find a way to get rid of whatever particular noise is bothering you.
If you're using a 4 channel and not bridging it at all you'll need a second GLI. If you try to use y adaptors and one GLI you'll lose either balance or fade (assuming the amp powers your interior speakers.)

i'd highly reccomend cleaning up and or entirely moving your amp ground, redoing your headunit ground, and all that before touching a gli

What brand of amp? It has been my experience that cheaper amps are more prone to noise.
I grounded my amps via a distribution block to one of the seat belt bolts underneath the back seat. Are your power wires seperated from your speaker/RCA wires?

I have a 1000W Profile amp. The power wire is separated from the RCA wires but its zip tied wit the speaker wires, because they were run on the same side of the car. After I've connected the SGLI to the left side speakers I can only hear the alternator noise in the right side speakers, so I figure that I need to buy another SGLI and hook it up to the right side speakers. What do u think?
IMHO i would have placed the power wire through the trunk, under the middle of the backseat, and straight down the tranny hump (where the console is) to avoid contact with the RCAs or speaker wiring. thats what i did in my previous truck and it worked just fine. of course i have no clue yet as to how much insulation there is on these civics since im pretty new to them (i bought my 2003 coupe only a month ago).
Profile can be classified as a "cheaper" amp - I had a Poweracoustik that had the same issues. You'll need a ground loop isolator for each pair of channels. Ludlam is 100% correct - they will help cut down the noise but they are a band aid - ideally you never need them................

right on. i want to avoid takin my interior apart though. ive already bought 2nd Stinger GLI and that should do the work. i've noticed that there was a different kind of noise appearing when I turn my headlight switch on. its less annoying than the alternator noise but still...
Wherever you end up grounding make sure to remove all the paint so you get a good connection. I also recommend using a star washer or even better is to use a nut and bolt if you can access both sides. If you're getting multiple kinds of noise issues you really should look at upgrading grounds and moving components before you commit to two GLIs.
like everyone else has said i would stay away from GLIs if you can. i would definitely sand all the paint away wherever you decide to put your grounds and certainly play around with different metals when trying to ground.
