Extending o2 Sensor Wires

Extending o2 Sensor Wires
Does anyone know what gauge the wire is and if I should just splice and tape or use male and female connectors?

i had a buddy extend mine, but i cannot remember what gauge wire it was. only thing useful i have now are pics of mine when i snapped mine trying to fit a test pipe :doh:. this is off an 03 ex civic.
if i guessed, i would say 18 gauge but no more than 16gauge.
