Bypassing the stock alternator power wire ?

I am in the process of installing a third party alternator (its a 275A alternator by Mike Singer that has a built in ELD bypass).

I have 0 gauge from the battery to the alternator so I was wondering if I still needed the factory power wire to the alternator ? (stock power wire won't reach my new alternator, I can extend it but I don't want to do it if I don't have to). The alternator installer mentioned that I shouldn't need to do so since I have a zero gauge wire from my battery to the alternator.

you're essentially replacing the stock wire so no you don't need the smaller one.
