MTX6500d with DVC Kicker solobaric

Is this a worthwhile system setup? One 12" Kicker Solobaric DVC (600wRMS) run by a MTX6500d? Do I need a cap with this, or will it be fine alone?

Thanks!

Definately sounds like a worthy setup. Just make sure you get the dual 4 ohm L7 solobaric. I wouldnt recommend the L5 in my opinion. Not nearly as loud or accurate. I run 2 12" L7's in my ride you can check it out under members rides if you wish. Wire the subs dual 4 ohm voice coils in parallel to create a 2 ohm mono load. With this setup the sub will see about 750w rms which will really get the solo movin. Check out this link for box specifications for the L7. Good luck and any other questions just ask!! And yes i would recommend a 1.0 farad cap to go with it as well as 4 awg power and ground wire.

Most definately a worthy setup.. Specially if you use the low tuning ported enclosure reccomended by kicker.. sounds quite nice.. and will be louder than Blah's 2 Sealed L7's setup..the L7's sealed seem to lose alot of output..but sound VERY VERY VERY accutate and good. Ported..they still sound quite nice and Bump hella harder.

Good call on that one

personally i think ported sucks ..but thats what makes us all different .. so if ya like it go for it ..

the 6500d and 1 L7 should slam that honda apart... very very good choice ... yes 1 farad will be more than enough .. only because the 6500d is a mono block amp.. 50 % more effiecient than other A, AB, T, etc amps ... the are able to deal with what they are give much much better ..

I'm actually planning on sticking with a single L5 DVC. With the amp being $310 I only have $200 in my budget for the sub. Am I wasting my time with a Single L5 DVC?

I appreciate all your help

why dont you get a different amp? such as a jbl bp300.1($200) get the L7 that is 2ohm dvc and wire it in parallel so you get a 1 ohm load. the jbl will push 600wrms at 1 ohm so it'll be perfect.

Are you sure about the ported and inclosed? I read somewhere that the smaller the space and if inclosed the more it thumps.. the bigger the space and escpecially if ported you get a deeper sound but less thump.

if smaller, you get less thump but more accuracy
if bigger with port, more thump but less accuracy

It depends on alot ont he subwoofer's design and such.. Generally for sealed smaller enclosures will give you an SPL bump at higher frequencies but you give up alot of low end.. Havign the enclosure too big you'll get better low end..but an overall drop in SPL...

Ported.. well depends.. small ported enclosure with low tuned small port will still yield good SQ great low end.. but.. the smaller port can't move enough air for when the subs bumping and you get alot of port noise.. Medium sized ported enclosures (depending on the port tuning) can sound drastically different... a low tuned enclosure may be louder at 33hz than it is at 50hz.. Where's as port tuned to 45hz.. will be up to 6Db's louder at 47hz.. but you'll have pretty much no sub 30hz sound..

It's a huge science that cannot be generalized.
