stock head unit

hey. i was looking into buying a sub or two and an amp for my car...maybe some tweeters, not sure. but i was wondering, is there an rca wire part on the 2004 civic ex stock headunit that would allow me to hook the components up to it or do i need to buy a new headunit? if i need a new headunit, anyone have suggestions? i like the stock look and want one that fits in cleanly...thanks

just get a new headunit alot of companies are getting ready to release their new 2006 line so you can get some 2005's for real cheap.

Personally I love clarion, but most popele here will tell you alpine (doesn't matter what model), panasonic (the higher models), and pioneer (higher models), maybe eclipse (if you can afford it)

you can always get line output convertors that will give you rca outputs, they range from one set of preouts to three sets

you are way better off getting a aftermarket unit, and if it is installed even decently with a good mounting kit (the plastic peice that trims it to the dash) then it will look fine.

you could get an aftermarked double din, then it would fit perfect in your double din dash. That is what you have right?

Like everyone said above, sure the aftermarket might draw more attention, but ultimately it will make system expansion a LOT easier and will sound a ton better. You might really want to look into it if you have the money to do so.

i have a double din too, and i couldn't find a kit to turn our double din to single din. maybe there is one now, but if not, you'd be better off getting an aftermarket double din. Alpine just came out with one this year, but it is expensive, you might try a used pioneer D1

everybody will tell you alpine and pioneer and stuff like that but I would suggest just going down to a outlet store (best buy, circuit city) and see what you like, just make sure it has a sub out incase you wanna go that route in the future.

all i know is that there subs and speakers suck, so i never tried their HU's, they might be good, but i have no experience with them. but you never know, pioneer isn't much with speakers also, but i love their HU's

kenwoods not too bad, their color displays look really pixelated so that turns me off, but for the money not a bad investment

Your best bet which i say all the time, go to a few audio stores, physically touch and use them. Then youll see what you like / dislike. Come back here with a small list of the ones you like and we will give our input on it.

I think double-dins look the best in civic's but they seem to be few to choose from, and can be pricey.

if you want a clean look, get the trim kit that lets you keep the stock storage bin. I have that on my car and it looks real clean.

yep get a clarion, they are all black, factory looking, espeically the ones that change colors, so you can pick the color that matches the factory illumination.
