xm radio install? Diy?
You using an aftermarket deck?
Which make... or rather, look in your instruction manual.
If you have a spoiler mount the antenna through one of the holes (I chose the right side since the XM hardware fits nicely behind the glove box (tape it down). You might have to break off a retaining clip on the antenna plug to fit it through one of the holes but it stays put. Now my XM antenna is neatly tucked by the Spoiler.
hope that helps a little.
Keep in mind I bought the Sony XM reciever from Best Buy so it was a little easier.

its written for an older xm tuner, but the steps are basically the same

mount the antenna with 22degrees vetical clearance and on no more than a 10degree horizontal plane with 2square feet of metal below the antenna -striaght from the MECP basic install manual- mount it on the roof, unless you have a convertible then you mount it on the trunk lid
put my antenna on my roof centered over the windshild and ran it down the gasket to the engine bay , and came in where my amp power goes through the fire wall. I didnt want to use the rear of the roof because of the gasket one the rear window had a small gasket and i seem a little brittle.
its really worth paying the 40-70 bucks to have the antenna installed by a pro. i have seen people who diy'd everything on their car and do it well. show up at the audio shop i worked at with the antenna wire not even in the window molding and their paint scratched to hell. pay to have it done if you install the antenna on top of the car which is the best way to do it.

xm radio
i have the pioneer avic-n2 and just got my xm radio unit the gex-p920xm installed at a shop. when i got home and went online to activate my xm i looked at the screen on my deck and it said no connection/no signal, but i can hear the xm preview channels like 00,01. so i was woundeing did the shop not connect it right or is there something else for me to connect. need help asap.
If you can hear the preview channels, then you need to take the ID number from channel 0 and use that to activate it. They have been slow lately. Go activate it, then leave the vehicle on after about 15-20 minutes of activating, or drive around a bit. It will register and youll be golden.
Ill take pics of my XM antenna, its roof mounted. The cable is so thin that it is very easy to run it in the rear window molding with a pick tool. Then just run it into the trunk and to the tuner pack (wherever yours may be installed.

If you can hear channels 1 and 247 they hooked it up just fine. It takes anywhere from 15minutes to an hour to receive a signal though (with your avicn on). I mounted my antenna on my trunk lid close to the brake light, and ran the wire in through the trunk that along its hinges, then tucked it all the way to the head unit. I think it looks good there.

Here is my quick diy:
1: run two wires out to the firewall from center console. connect one to battery (at the end), and the other to a chassis ground (now).
2. pull out your radio center piece and plug the connector to the back of your radio (assuming you have aftermarket, its gonna be ainet, ipbus etc).
3. run that wire to the receiver and plug it in. I opted to put mine under the ebrake housing for a hidden install yet still have easy access.
4. run the power and ground through the center console and connect to the receiver
5. plug the antenna and run it out the back of the console, under the carpet, under the rear seats, around the rear of the trunk, and put it over the molding. now the problem i ran into was the metal had a groove that the molding sat in. if you just run it over that and push the molding down, you are gonna smash and possibly damage the wire. So I did something stupid and hacked out a giant hole because I ran the wire already and didn't wanna take it off again to start over. So it leaked like a ****. Finally I got it sealed using huge blobs of silicone. i would suggest drilling a small hole rather than carving out a huge piece and then run the wire first and using a drop of silicone to seal up.
6. run the antenna wire under the molding. i used a key to pry up a bit at the end and stuff in the cable. at the top i cut a slit in the rubber so the antenna wire doesn't look curvy.
7. press the reset button on your HU and you're all set. follow instructions on setting it up.
i really dont think this is something you should pay to get done unless you have no clue about what a wire is or simple things on how your car comes apart. oh and i'm not sure how you guys are using the amtenna hidden under the car or in the dash or whatever. i tried hiding it but the reception was alot worse (if thats possible, its pretty bad when installed the right way too). The rear deck seemed like the best place but with my tint i was getting static. So out it goes. if you do it right, it shouldn't look that bad.

I pretty much know nothing about wiring but I'm here to learn! My dad knows a lot too but, he tried helping me with it but he got frustrated with my "foreign car", he wanted to have a fuse for it, but he didnt want to run a fuse from the battery through the firewall, so I just went and had it installed, plus neither of us want to break stuff, and if they break it they have to fix it.

as long as the paint isnt a heavily metalic based paint, the reception wont suffer. I know i saw a dealer on xmfan.com that sold them, he even matched it to your exact paint code, someone prob sells them for sirus too.
Yeah, as long as there isnt much metallic in the paint, no problems what so ever. Im not sure how they are doing it on the 06 civics, becuase they are all painted, but whatever works.

Both of those antenna installs look great !! I made a pedastal and put mine on the back deck, works great from inside.
Not sure about the coupes, but be extra careful with the sedans. The trunk hinges will damage the wires easily with out wire looms being used.
