under dash 12 volt constant spade?
under dash 12 volt constant spade?
hi, i am in the process of installing a keyless entry unit and 4 actuators in a friend's Civic VP 4 door. Ive looked through posts for 2 hrs. looking for where to find 12 volt constant power in the 7th gen fuse box. I know there are connections like this in the 5th gen, because this is how i wired mine. This would be the easiest and less time-consuming way to get to it. I dont want to go near the battery, and the cig. lighter, wiring that to constant. Pics of where it is would be good. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
dont want to mess with the radio 12v, dont know much about how the new stock radios work, and dont want to go spend money on a multi-meter, because this is not for my car. Might just have to do the latter tho.
if i run it to the battery, will i need the car's radio code or something to make the radio work again? dont know if i wanna spend time fishing wire thru the firewall to the bay, and then securing the wire to something. plus the 12 volt wire from the keyless unit is fused already.
k, well to tap off the cig lighter, the whole center thing that the cig lighter is mounted on pulls right out, then you'll see 2 wires connected to the cig lighter, the wire on the inner part is the +12v, hold please while i find pics.
O god damn it! uhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, hmmm i must ponder this one for a min......head unit is the only one i can think of, or run a wire to the battery, you wont need a new code for the radio either, to get the radio out, you have to take that cig lighter thing off like i said, then there are 2 10 mm bolts holding in the entire console with the a/c controls and all, and splice into the yellow wire, it's constant
i really dont want to do more work than i should, i.e. taking out radio head unit in a car i am unfamiliar with, sadly i am getting paid for this and hooking up the wires should be the easiest thing i have to do.
well the constant to the head unit does have always have power, i myself have put power lock on my car to, you can still unlock\lock the car from the outside with the key, personally, i am all sound, i would rather run a direct line the battery, it'd be pretty quick to do also, straighten out a coat hanger, tape one of the ends to a wire, then on the passenger side there is a rubber bezel with a whole bunch of wire going through it, just poke the hanger through and pull, fuse the wire near the battery. and boom, you have a constant!

cig lighter is NOT constant power if it hasn't already been mentioned
don't tap off any other wires, use the ignition switch.
