use any 18ga wire for your remote wire..... as far as where to connect it... i would either use the acessory wire like alex said, and perhaps put it on the switch. you could put the remote wire on any 12v line and connect it to rem on your amp and it will turn on when the line has power. other than that all you need is power and ground wire of a minimum size of 8 awg, speaker wire, and interconnects (RCA's)

^^ The test lights are available at the auto parts store. Sharp metal tip and clear/translucent plastic handle with bulb inside and a single wire coming out of handle with alligator clip. Ground the clip lead and pierce the wire with the tip, if bulb lights you have voltage present.

dont use test lights! todays vehicles electronics are way too sensitive to be prodded with a test light. A digital multimeter is a much safer option. For your remote connection from the amp, I used the positive wire at the cig. ligher outlet. I believe it is a yellow wire, but double check.

Your ignition lead wire is a blue wire. Sometimes it has a white stripe on it. Wal-Mart has remote wires for about 5 dollars. Just cut and splice the remote wire with the blue ignition lead-turn on. If you are using a stock head unit, then make sure that you have a low-line output converter for your rca's. I install radios all the time. Just PM me if you need any more help.
im bringing up this thread for a question..
OK....the guy who installed my system put the Amp Remote Wire into the Power Antenna wire on the harness....
Now, Honda technician who diagnose my electrical problem said that....it's OK....but it's probably better if i connect it into another 12V such as the power outlet.....
which one is better here? is it ok to plug it on the power antenna wire (like it used to be).......or should i tap it onto 12V sorce? Mind you though...i usually use my PDA for GPS...which i connect to the power outlet...will it matter if i use it at the same time (remote wire and charging PDA)?

it doesnt really matter anyway. As long as you arent using that lead to turn on too many devices, your fine either way. The Power antenna wire puts out just enough current, about 500 miliamps, to activate a relay for the power antenna. If you were turning on multiple amps, a signal processor, and a cap then I would recomend using the power outlet or using the power antenna wire to drive a relay to turn on your devices.
The remote wire is only "hot" when the stereo is on, not the car. Yes the car must be on, ....DUH...Secondly you could hook up a million things to the REMOTE wire. It is not a CURRENT drawing wire, merely a voltage on a IC or RELAY telling a unit to; turn on, go up etc...

^^ wrong, devices will draw a minute amount of current through the turn on lead. as this lead can only supply so much current (and it's not a lot), only so many devices can be connected before a relay needs to be used.
definitely DO NOT connect it right to 12v power (no matter if it's constant or switched)... if anything, use a relay. I hope that's what the Honda tech meant. If not, he's a moron. If you WERE to connect the remote wire to the power outlet +12v line anyway, your collective devices would not draw enough current through the turn-on lead to affect any other devices that you have plugged into the outlet.

i used the under dash fuse to the remote head unit wire you don't have to taer your dash off to get to the thing and it is virtualy the same wire tapping senerio just push in there with the fuse i think it's number 15 on the bottom
