Accessory wire underhood?
Accessory wire underhood?
Hey all. I'm trying to find out if there is an accessory wire/connection under our hood that is only hot when the car is on? I'm trying to avoid running a wire inside to the ignition to power a relay if I don't have to. I have a 2004 coupe lx if that helps at all. I couldn't find anything searching the forums so I hope this isn't addressed anywhere else. Thanks.
cig plug? As in the cigarette lighter plug? Thats a good idea but it's still inside the cab. I was looking for something under the hood so I don't have to go into the cab. It's not like it's hard to run a wire inside or anything, I'm just trying to run as little wire as possible.
I just burnt my tongue

just connect it to the battery...lol...i do beleive there is no accessorie connection under the hood except the headlights/parking lights and fog lights if u have them...but those are connected to ur headlight switch...u can try splicing into something in the fuse box...like twisting a wire around a fuse leg and sticking it back in...thats what i did for one of my toys...i call it a booty call but its a secret
I've mounted a peltier in the stock air box with a heatsink on the inside to cool the incoming air down and a heatsink on the outside to cool the hot side down. Everywhere that I've read said it would not work or that it could not be done so of course I HAD to do it.
I'll post some pics of it if anyone is interested in seeing it. Its basically the stock airbox modified with the short end of an AEM intake mounted to the open end. The peltier is mounted so the air must pass it while entering the box. The peltier isn't strong enough to cool the air enough but as an experiment I would say its been a success. The air box at idle does get cold but after driving for 30 minutes the box is warm. Its not hot as usuall but its not cold.
The main thing I was worried about was condensation so I put foam around the area that the peltier sits to catch any liquid as well as put a drain hole in the inlet. Once I get the system to turn on when the car does and I'm sure condensation is not an issue I'll most likely add another peltier to increase the cooling.

Seriously though, I'll post pics later tonight as I don't have a camera at work.
