AC starts without turning on
AC starts without turning on
Hi,
Had my engine replaced under TSB 10-048 and at same time replaced compressor as previous one blew up. Now with compressor clutch connected and relay installed, compressor wont's turn off. If I disconnect comp clutch relay, compressor wont start but both fans turn on immediately after inserting key. If wires to clutch are disconnected but relay left in, only rad fan works and cpompressor does not. AC panel in car does nothing

If you determine it is not a stuck clutch relay, then I might go to the HVAC panel and remove and unplug it, see if that lets the compressor shut off.

The AC ON button has no effect to turn off the compressor from running. Is it possible the dealer damaged the ECM or HVAC Ctl unit when they swapped out the new engine block ?

Re: AC starts without turning on
Short answer is probably no, they should have had nothing to do with the problem.....but none of us were there to see what happened.
I know if I do the same engine job there would be no relationship other than unplugging the PCM and harnesses, which has been done with zero issues on countless other cars.
SOMEONE needs to figure out the real cause of the problem FIRST...then figure out what needs done to correct it.
BEFORE pointing the finger of blame.
