Exclamation electrical trouble

i hit a huge pothole which rattled everything in my car so much that a couple of crimps that attached my cd player harness to the factory wiring came loose and may have caused a short and blew a fuse.

now i can't use my powerlocks when the ignition is off. also when i open the door...the dome light doesn't go on. the interior lights do work when i turn them on tho.

i checked the #8 fuse and it looked fine....

i'm not really sure what fuse i'm looking for or if thats even the problem. any input would be a great help...thanks

Did you check the fuses under the hood behind the battery?

I blew a fuse in there yesterday when I was futzing around with the my dimmer wire.

It LOOKED fine.. did you test it though? I've seen fuses that don't look blown but they indeed were..

You have a owner's manual? It tells you which fuse does what, and their location both in the box and in the vehicle (under hood or under dash).

just curious, isnt that the extra fuse you need if one blows out? i think every fuse has a specific label, backup isnt specific.

My HU stopped working after I hit a bunch of hard bumps, it was a loose fuse. Make sure none of them are loose, just press them all in under the hood and steering wheel. Might as well try an easy fix first, see if that works.

Nope, it is a hot fuse, not an extra.

just by a test light for future situations they are cheap at sears or something, hook the alligator clamp to a ground (frame bolt or neg. of battery) and touch BOTH metal points that show at the top of the fuse while its plugged in , if any light up on one side only replace it cus its blown, if neither sides light up then its most likely a fuse in an extra spot not being used, and if ur not sure sometimes u have to move the tip of the test light on the metal a little incase there is crud on it.
