Interference when rear defroster is on
I put some new rear speakers in my car this weekend, and I notice now that when I listen to certain radio stations, the second I turn on my rear defroster I get a ton of static. As soon as I turn it off, it goes back to normal. Has this happened to anyone else? All of the connections seem to be in order in the back.

probalby has something to do with the fact that the antenna is integrated right into the rear window. if that is the case and i would say almost 100% for sure it is, then you are just gonna have to live with it
funny you mention this
i was listening to 680 AM downtown (traffic station) and I was driving under street car tracks that give me the usual static, turning on the rear defrost really messed it up more.
prolly sometin to do with the attenna in the rear window.
solution, stop listening to radio :P

If you've changed the HU, then probably the problem is that you neglected to hook up the powered antenna wire. I had a friend with the same exact thing, when I pulled out his Alpine I found his power antenna wire not connected. I connected it and the defroster didn't cause static anymore.

I think the factory colored power wire is green with a yellow stripe, am I correct J187? It significantly helps both AM and FM.

Oops, I bet I forgot to hook it back up. I redid the harness this weekend as well to correct the hack job I did intially. I'll pull it back out and give it a look - thanks J187!
