Cheapo dynamat material...
Cheapo dynamat material...
Ok...I know it's not really correct to say this is a Dynamat replacement, as Dynamat does a totally different thing acoustically, but how about this for a poor man...You know that "egg-carton" bed stuff you can buy to put on mattresses to make a soft layer? Well, why couldn't you use that stuff as a noise diffuser? I mean, it's got lots of pores...What do you guys think?

Carpet foam is better and it's cheap and light weight for a noise reducer. Check out www.b-quiet.com for other stuff. It explains the differences.
Also, dynamat isn't a sound absorbtion material. It is used to firm up flimsy metal so it doesn't rattle as much.
You should probably use it in conjunction with a sound absorbtion material.
Thats only my opinion though.

Yeah dynamat is good for door panels where speakers are installed to make a type of enclosure. It doesn't help road noise. Sound absorbtion mat is more for road noise like accoustic foam, L and V-comp, that kinda thing. Or even carpet foam.
Yeah. I knew that about dynamat. I'm trying to get rid of some road noise, mostly. I find that I have to kick the volume up a few notches when I'm on the highway, then when I come to a stop after I exit, it sounds like the radio's blaring...
