Amp install location

Hey everyone. I just wanted some advice on a good place to mount the amplifier in my civic. I thought the back of the rear seats would be a good place, but the backs don't seem to have a solid surface beneath the carpeting. So, I'm sure it might be possible to mount it there, but I just wanted to know a good place to mount it. Any ideas? Where have all you guys mounted yours? Thanks.

pry the carpet of the bottom of your back seat...you will be able to put a thin piece of plywood in there. once you mount the amp to the back seat the wood will not slide up or down.

feel the back seat
there should be some bars running across it (underneath it)
slice a small section open until you see the bar
drill a hole into the bar so you can mount the amp

-- i dont know about your amp but mine has two wholes on each side to screw it onto whatever

place your amp

and same what he said^^^

for simplicity, nothing beats the back of the rear seat using a ply backer, or under the rear deck on spacers and really really long screws.

i got a piece of mdf in the back of the rear 2/3 seat. u can very easily remove some of the seat cover and work underneath (there is a zip at the end of the 2/3 seat where the other 1/3 starts). i put it where it comes right in the middle when the 2 rear seats r up.

The easiest method to mount it to the seat is to unzip the seat (either one), and then remove the plastic insert at the bottom that folds the carpet under to make it appear seamless. Once you do that, you should be able to fold the carpet back and see support bars and foam in the seat. You have several options here. Cut two strips that will correspond to where you mount your amp and zip tie them to the bars. Cut one large piece of 1/4 inch mdf, plywood, etc to size and put it in there then zip the seat back up to secure it in there (it won't move). Sandwich one piece of mdf under the bars, and one on top and screw them together. Etc... Once you decide, zip the seat up, and run your screws into the mounting holes and into the mdf, plywood, whatever to secure your amp to the back of the seat. You can mount your amp to the box. There's no real performance issues (unless your box isn't secured to the floor, don't want it sliding around and junk all over the trunk). Amps are made to take a pretty good amount of a beating, just make sure they are secured to something so as not to slide all over.(Personally, I wouldn't mount mine on my box, just for security issues, it's a package deal for theives, and they have little work other than a ****** and grab). You can even mount it to a board in the trunk floor (replacing the crappy cardboard crap with mdf, birch ply, etc...). False floor amp install, etc, etc etc. There are hundreds of options, you just have to decide what's best for you. If it's a small amp, you can even go under one of your seats with it, should you choose to.
