Center console wiring

I am going to be wiring up some lights and such pretty soon, and I wonder if anyone has any guides or information for me regarding the bird's nest of wiring inside the center console.

I can obviously pull +12v from the accessory outlet, but I don't want to use that one source all the time, it would be nice to know of others... Without disassembling my entire car and tracing every wire.

Where have you tapped into for power in the front of your cars?

Also, if I were to splice into the +12v accessory outlet line to power my sound-reactive EL wire, would the varying voltage being pulled by that system affect the other junk I'll have plugged into the outlet, such as my iPod and radar detector?

You could also use the acc wire on the ignition.

use the same wire as in the acc. outlet, but if your paranoid about it run a relay to be safe, I ran a relay from my HU's remote wire to control all my amps
