Looking for some insight

Heres the deal, I've got a pioneer DEH-6400 running to 2 rockfards subs with a 500 s amp. The latest issue im having is that power is being drained somewhere. I know that the battery is giving me high 13's to 14 volts. But the power at the capacitor sometimes dips into the 11's and the amp protects, when the subs are playing its around 13 or a little above 13. The only clue i have to the werabouts of a possible short is that the face on my radio is dimming out. So does anyone have any insight as to where a possible problem may lie. (Mind you there's nothing between the cap and the amp, its a direct line from the battery to the trunk and from there straight into the amp).
Thanks for the help in advance, the only reason i ask is so i dont have to test every segment of wire (its cold outside and i have no garage), if someone can give me a good place to look for the problem, its much appreciated.

Okay we need to get some more information... is the power at your cap normally 13-14 volts or whatever your electrical system is at? When the power dips, does the entire system voltage drop or just the voltage at your amp?

What do you mean when you say your faceplate on your radio is dimming out?
