quick capacitor Q
Becareful with that cap once its charged. It holds the charge even with the car off and the battery disconnected. I don't mean to treat you like your stupid but the question you asked leads me to believe you don't know about capacitors and you may need to be warned.
bzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzt nothing like a high volt charge. painfull I might add. kids in school used to charge them up and stick people with them. I never did it, but I got zapped from a cap from a flash camera. Makes a nice stun gun also.

just remember ground goes on last (installing) and ground comes off first (uninstalling)
and wut they're saying is, once ur capacitor is installed, and you unground your stock battery, your electrical system still has power from the capacitor..

if the cap gets shorted, there'll be a large current as the capacitor drains itself. there'll be sparks and i guess, whatever that's shorting it, will get pretty hot.

Don't let anyone fool ya, it gives you a good jolt when you touch both with the same hand.... Trust me, I'm dumb enough to do it....
If you'd like to prepare for any accidental touching of the capacitor terminals, you could spend a week starting each day by holding a 9 volt battery to your tongue. Then, in the event you accidentally touch the terminals installing you cap, you'll be used to the little jolt you may get. Seriously though,
You also should know to keep wires (and subsequently the distance from the amp) as short as you can. Charge the cap slowly if it needs charging with a resisitor of 10watts and at least 10ohms. Definitely slow-charge the cap, a long time ago I had a shop install my equipment and when I looked at my cap the terms will rusted and oxidized - bastards fast-charged my cap, urrrrr. Anyway, if you've got a 1/2 Farad cap or similar and your using multiple amps, you may want to only use the cap on the sub-amp if it isn't adequate to benefit both amps.
BTW, theres lots of contraversy as to whether or not caps do anything for car audio.
