Distribution block question

I am going to be running a 2 gauge power wire into a dist block and then running 8 gauge wires from the dist. block to my amps. When shopping for a dist block if it says that there are 2- 0/1gauge inputs and 3- 4gauge outputs, will this be the right one to get as the inputs and outputs are wider than I will actually need (ie 2 gaauge in, 8 gauge out)? I guess there is something that I will screw in so that the power wires are secure.Sounddomain is offering a 2 gauge kit for $72 US, this seems like a good price

You can put any size wire you like in the holes, i have a 4 in 8 out that I am using for neons and I have 8 in and 16 out. it works fine

If you are only running 8 awg to your amps, you only need to run 4 from your battery. You can run larger if you want, but smaller wire will be easier to install

Yeah, I already have a 4 guage from the battery, but I will rip it out and just put a 2 gauge in there, just in case I want to do some funky stuff down the line, or do you think that 4 gauge will be enough for any funky stuff I choose to do?

Also, if I wanted to power neons, is a power dist all that I would need? How would I hook somthing like that up?

4 gauge should be fine

You could just put a few small 16 or 18 gague wires in one of hte distro outputs for neons, or run a small wire from that distro to another distro and put your neon wires in that one

I have two options now

Option 1 - Use existing cig lighter adapter

This has been routed from the back to the front of the car. My exisiting neon has burnt out. If I replace it with a new one and cut the cig lighter adapter off the new one and join the new wires to the routed wire, will it work? Say if I wanted to add more neons, would it be as simple just joining the new neons to exisiting wires and the electrical taping the connection. This option gives me control upfront, I can unplug the lights whenever I dont need them.

Option 2 - Use a dist block

I am sorta confused here. The wire is coming directly from the battery to the dist block. If I buy a new neon and take the cig lighter adapter off the new one I am left with two wires, what do I do with these? Does one go into the dist block and the other to the ground or do both go into the dist block output. This option would require a a switch being put in the front, but I think a switch is redundant cuz the I could just use the cig lighter adapter
