i had both the 2002 lx and si(usa EX)...no noticeable dif

If the VTEC motors weren't worth something, Honda would invest the money into them. Not that the D17 is spectacular. The only people that I know that argue that there isn't a difference are the people who didn't buy an EX. I'm about to finish porting and polishing my spare head so I will have an extra head and ECU for a VTEC motor, you'd simply need to run the VTEC wire to the solonoid.
