hey fonto, check out some of the other car audio forums, like the forum at carsound.com and on caraudio.com, i think i have seen threads on those boards about that sub or atleast the brand (its a dayton sub right?).
i think they use that sub for home audio applications.

I didn't see the brand name. If it is the Dayton DVC then its a good sub. Many use it for home theater sub applications.
Look at www.hometheaterforum.com for threads on this sub. I did a quick search on "Dayton" and came up w/ 2 pages of threads.

Ok, maybe I should clarify my post so that I don't seem like a complete idiot here. From what I have read online, the sub is a Kove Armageddon (Kove went under so these subs are cheap because they do not have all of the branding on them). I posted the link for two reasons: 1) to let others know of the deal on a sub that is regarded as a good SPL sub, and 2) to see if they are actually worth it and if anyone has ever used or heard one. I haven't so I wanted feedback from "people in the know"
Now, I know I may be an audio ignouramous at times, but damn, I have a guy recomending MTX, RF, Clarion, Infinity subs...all good companies, but if I was gonna reccomend and suggest subs I would recommend upper echelon subs like some JL W7s, IDMAXes, Elclipses...something like that (dependent on budget).
I purposely posted "? for people in the know" so that informed information on this deal could potentially be posted.
Sorry for the sarcasm and any misunderstanding

yeah, we had a conversation about those in chat awhile back, and are supposedly armegeddon copies. I am not aware of the performance abilities of the armageddon, so i dont know how these will perform, but theres one good way to find out!
i would think the resale value of those might not be so great......

yah fonto check out ikesounds.com they are awesome. i am down around the ft.laudy store....and they have the best prices.....i got my entire system (infinity kappa's all around, with a perfect sub for under 500 bucks. Including the wires and mounting brackets/box) They are the best, but if u go in person realize u are walking into a shipping bay, also bring a list of model numbers and prices with u. they wont let u look around, u give them the list they come out with waht they got!
Velodyne made servo subwoofers for car audio use. It cost a pretty penny though.
The subwoofer up there is nice. Better than anything you can get at best buy.
Quality doesn't always have to come with brand names. Rockford, clarion, MTX, etc are just the average joe stuff (except for the higher model such as the Type RF and the 9500). They are nice sub, but nothing like a JL Audio W7
