Can I use trunk starter without 98-02 accord trunk latch?

If not...what are other options...I just had my trunk latch replaced...I dont really wanna buy another trunk latch. Also, is it easy to wire the alarm to the trunk latch? I don't really wanan screw up my alarm or pay the extra LOT of money to have honda install the trunk option. Thanks

its a solenoid, like a big cylinder with a piston in it, you charge it to 12 volts and it pumps.

so what you do is bolt the solenoid to the structure of the trunk lid to the side of the latch, and hook the cable up to teh latch itsel fso that when it pulses, its basically yanking real hard on the latch.

jay is right, they are totally cheap, you dont need any more than 9 pounds to pop it, most likely you cna get away with far less.

to wire it, you ground one lead to the trunk lid itself, then you snake a wire up the trunklid arm all the way to the relay for the trunk pop alarm output. using a relay is key, it draws too much power to hook to your alarm directly!

its totally a snap tho, there is no hardest part if you know relays real well!
