Type R swap into 9th gen
Type R swap into 9th gen
Hello Sir, I come to you because you seem knowledgeable on the Honda Civic's. Would you be able to answer this for me? I am currently building my 9th gen 2012 Honda Civic Ex 1.8L SOHC V-tec car. It has 122 XXX Km on it and it is a daily driver. Right Now I have a spoiler that I got installed by my mechanic behind held on by 3M tape, Mud-flaps, Exhaust and I just recently tinted the rear Tail-Lights black. It is a Show-Car in the making. My question to you is, ( is it possible to swap my 1.8L V-Tec to a 2020 Type-R Engine and Transmission ?). Will the Type-R Engine fit with no problem? And I also forgot to say that my car currently is Automatic.
Thanks

Re: Difference between dx lx dxg lxi ex si etc Civics Honda
So.. it'll fit. But to get it to work will probably require a lot of fab work to make actually work. Custom mounts, drive shafts, not to mention ECU, since the ECU in the 10thgen controls a lot of different aspects of the car
According to the VTEC academy video above, the K20C1 originally came in the 2012 chassis, so no surprise there that it will fit in the engine bay.
