2012 EX Honda Civic Automatic Sedan Engine Swap to a 2019 Type-R Engine possible?

Hello again, I hope you are staying well from Covid-19. Well as you see my title of my Thread, is it possible to swap the 2012 Automatic Ex Sedan engine Honda Civic 4Dr. FWD to a Honda Civic Type-R engine model 2019-2020? Like is that even possible?

Thread moved. Response copied from your other question

So.. it'll fit. But to get it to work will probably require a lot of fab work to make actually work. Custom mounts, drive shafts, not to mention ECU, since the ECU in the 10thgen controls a lot of different aspects of the car

According to the VTEC academy video above, the K20C1 originally came in the 2012 chassis, so no surprise there that it will fit in the engine bay.

How much time, money, and fabrication skills do you have?

Re: 2012 EX Honda Civic Automatic Sedan Engine Swap to a 2019 Type-R Engine possible?

Hello, I hope you are doing fine. I was wondering if my mechanic could put in Honda Civic EX-L leather seats in my automatic Honda Ex 2012 4 Dr Sedan. Currently they're Cloth and I'm not happy with them. Also with the Engine swap of the Automatic 4 Dr 1.8 L EX, I was wondering since my car is currently Automatic, what would my Mechanic have to do in order to fit the 2019 Type-R Engine and Standard Transmission in there? Is that swap even possible?

Hahahahaha, a mechanic will not help you. They repair OEM, and don't do custom fab.

A mod shop will do a custom engine swap, probably cost you $10,000usd+ though.

Book time
-pull old engine 3 hours
-test fit new engine 1 hour
-design custom mounts 2 hours
-fanbricate mounts (x4) 10 hours
-brake system/axle fitment 8 hours
-exhaust system mock up 1 hours
-exhaust system weld and hang 2 hours
-fluid refill (brake, clutch oil, rad, ps) 2 hour
-ecu install and wiring harness adaptation 2 hours
-inobilizer reprogram 1 hour

32 hours x $140/hour = $4480 in labour if it's a shop that's done that swap before, expect double that if it's not a honda mod shop.

plus parts.

Si and EX have completely different engines. The EX has a sohc 1.8 making like 130hp (just a guess off the top of my head) and the Si has a dohc 2.0 making over 200hp. The Si is a lot sportier.
