Hid kit in projectors

I know that you probably have to change the projector out with a hid compatible projector.
i have the halo's i was wondering if i went with lets say catz 42-4500 i cant remeber which one it is but you know what im talking about, would i have to change the projector or no, i hate having the stock color bulbs in there and every time i put in higher watt bulbs they kept blowing, so i was wondering and any infor would be great.
thanx

You can get a HID kit and then plug em into your TYC projectors, but if you have a little more patience and some fabricating ingenuity you can also buy OEM HID projectors then retrofit them into the projectors for the same price. I just bought a set of E-Spec ECE Audi A6 projectors and im currently in the process of retrofitting them into the TYC housings. After plugging in these projectors there's not a doubt im my mind that i made the right decision and I paid alot less than the usual Plug and play kits would cost.

I got my Audi A6 ECE Hella projectors w/ 4100k 8122 D2s Philips bulb and Audi OEM ballast w/ wiring harness for $375.00. Both TYC and Halo uses stock H1 bulbs so the projector unit dimensions should be similar. I just finished aiming and mounting my HID projectors in my TYC's yesterday and all i can say is WOW. The beam pattern is so much cleaner and noticably brighter than any DOT spec unit on the street. Even a stock DOT A6 seems to be dimmer and less wide than the ECE version of the same unit. I'll post pics when I get my girfriends digicam later this week.
