D17A2

I believe Honda just stroked a D16 motor to get the D17A2. Does anyone know the complete engine code of which D16 motor was stroked? Or ideas on where i could look this up?
I want this to try to figure out what parts can be swapped into our motors.

Thanks!

the d17 is not a stroked d16,
completely (well...not completely) redisgned. bolt patterns are different and such.

Hey RiceBuRNeR

According to Edmunds.com the 92 Acura Integra GSR has a 1.7 liter engine. You think the pistons might fit? How much will have to be done for our engine to use them?

Or is it a misprint?

B series have a larger bore than ours.... it's 81 vs 75 mm. To make the stuff fit, you'd have to over bore the cylinders 6 mm... which is quite a bit. I don't know what the stroke is, but it's shorter than ours... so in theory using B series pistons would bump the displacement in our engines up considerably. I'm sure it's possible, but I don't know exactly what's involved... it's probably expensive.

Since you set the other thread to be deleted.. here's the explaination that I posted over there in case anyone wonders....

"B series engines are more neutrally balanced than D series engines. I mean, they have a larger bore and a shorter stroke to get the same displacement. It provides a more even power curve and more overall power. D series engines are actually torque biased (stroke is longer than the bore is wide) and they still make more HP than torque, the B series is torque biased too, but not nearly as much. D17's are 75x94mm (bore x stroke), B series are 81 x something in the mid 80's. I think the B16 is 81 x 84."

oh, ok

So the stroke is longer than the bore, which makes it unbalanced.

Thanks guys! I was asking, as i wanted to see if it was possible to get a stroker kit for a D16 (there are some available to make it a 1.8L) & replace the pistons for higher compression; to give me a D- series motor that rocks . Our pistons are actually round, here's a link to some interesting info..

Thanks RiceBuRNeR! You've now given me another option
