Rep Power: 0 K&N Filter... what will it do?
I'm a kinda new to the civic, and i got 1 not to long ago. Right now i'm puttin payments on a body kit, so my budget is low. Will a K&N air filter make any noticeable performance in my car? What about that tornado air flow thing?

Rep Power: 0 they say that replacing the stock filter with a k&N dosent do much for power on our cars, but nothing does, anyways, they just told me that it makes it so you dont have to get a new one hardly ever, if ever.
am i making any sense? eh

the K&N will increase air flow and the filter is also washable and reuseable.
The tornate will also be good for the car.
Increased gas mileage.
Better air to fuel mixer.
More air compressed into the cylinder for more power.
Ever little bit helps

Rep Power: 0 If you don't mind burning your money on useless rice then go ahead and buy the tornado.
It may have a small effect on carburated engines, but not on our cars.
The main benefit of a K&N drop in filter is that it is reusable. It does provide better air flow, but you will not notice much if any gain in HP.

Rep Power: 0 Tornado not do anything for 7th gen civic.
K&N filter lasts long time. Wait till you need a filter and then get it. Can clean and keep for years and years.

Rep Power: 395 I have the K&N drop-in air filter. I think I noticed that the car was a bit smoother at higher rpm's. Mostly unnoticeable though. Eh, it's kinda k3wl 'cause you can re-use it for the life of the car.

Rep Power: 0 Uh, most likely it will do nothing. It may give you .5hp or something...
The main benefit of the oem replacement is its ability to be reused. If you plan on keeping the car for several years, it will more than pay for itself.

Rep Power: 0 That's a good deal, depending on shipping charges. It's $37.99 here, where I got mine.

I can say for sure these filters will last, if you take care of them. I've had the K&N OE replacement filter in my Firebird for over 90,000 miles.

Rep Power: 0 I just bought the drop in filter and installed it last week. I don't feel any power gains, but it feels like my car breathes more easily. As for gas mileage, its wierd. I usually get at least 30mpg until the gas light comes on. I fill 10 gallons everytime = 300miles/tank. Well after I got the filter I only averaged about 27 mpg before I had to refill today. Maybe its because I was driving my car a bit harder during this fill up than I usually do. I will do a full fillup tomorrow and see the results again. I should be getting MORE gas mileage!!!

Rep Power: 0 I just intalled the drop in filter, looking for better gas mileage. Good to know you are getting 3-4 more mpgs.
Can the tornado be installed in our cars? The guy that sold me the k&n wanted to sell me that thing, but after looking at the air intake told me it wouldnīt work. Thatīs supposed to really improve your gas mileage.
As for more HP, in theory you can gain up to 5 HP, but itīs only noticeable at high speeds and high rpm. The advantages of the k&n are really its long life and a better breathing engine.

Rep Power: 282 The stock air filter is garbage after about 12,000 miles. That is because it is right above the throttle body and tends to pull air from right above it. When that area gets saturated with dirt, you will notice a loss in power. Since now it has to pull air from around the filter.
The K & N will only allow you to not have to buy a filter and it will last a bit longer between cleanings. I did not notice any real gains from it.
Now getting an intake is a little better. I noticed a big change when I got the FIPK. It really depends on what you want to do. If you want to keep your car stock, then just get the filter drop in. If you want some increase, get an intake.
Just think carefully if you want to get a cold air intake. A few people have learned the hard way about sucking in water when they go through a puddle.

Rep Power: 344 I calculated over three full tanks of gas and I did got 3-4 more mpg.
I was doing the same type of driving as I would have done...
3-4 is a lot, but er.. I got 36-37 when I usually would get 32-33 mpg.

Rep Power: 0 Interesting. I actually got a full tank the same day I installed the k&n drop in. I will post my mpg readings once I refill the tank. I donīt think I will get 3-4 mpg more because I have 225/55 16 tires.
The water sucking problem was the main reason I decided to keep stock. There are a lot of floods where I live.
