Intake Sound?????
I need some help guys. First off I am not interested in performance results just sound. I am debating between the AEM sri for $100, the Injen CAI for $200, or the K&N FIPK for like $250. My question is this, is it worth spending $200 or $250 versus the $100 for the sound of an intake, is there really any difference? If anyone has a sound clip it would grealty be appreciated.
all intakes r basically the same. people get hung up on names all the time! all it is, is a pipe and a filter the only thing that really matters is the filter. i went with the AEM SRI from NOPI for $107 but im gettin a hookup on it and it prolly wil be 75 instead. i know im gonna get flamed on cus of what i just said but thats cool

If you just want noise, go to ebay and get the cheapest intake you can find.
I used to have an Injen CAI. It was nice and LOUD.
Now i have an AEM SRI and i like the sound better. I've always liked AEM sound better because it roars.
The choice is yours though.

I have the injen cai and its fawking loud at wot, it screams. I had it just as a short ram for a few days before i could take the bumper off to put the cold air part on and it was more of a roaring sound then. The cai is definatly louder.

Ok, I'm gonna pretend that you didn't just say that all intakes are the same. You are a complete idiot and you definately should not be posting a reply to something that you know nothing about. Why don't you pick up a copy of Super Street, Import Tunner, or Honda Tunning and take a look at the dyno charts they have posted about gains with diferent intakes. Until you know what you are talking about and do not want to be flammed again, don't post.

not all intakes are the same but if you are just going for the sound, get any pipe with a K&N cone filter. whether the pipe is short ram or cold air shouldn't make that much of a difference in the sound. if you want the best all round bang for the buck, go with the tenzo r short ram and filter
i didnt want a nasty sounding intake when i was deciding to get mine either. but i also wanted something that was from a well know company, so the quality would be good, which is why i got a k&n fipk. its nice and quiet when im puttin around town, but when i put the hammer down, whoa nelly! makes me wanna nut my pants and it looks nice and clean in the engine.
Ok, since we're on the subject of CAIs, I have a question.
A mechanic I know told me that a CAI would mess up my engine. He said that it would put too much cold air into it screwing things up and resulting in changes needed to be made in my ECU. Is this false?

My AEM Short Ram really pleased me when I got it. Nice tone when I hit about 30 mph (sorry, I drive a DX, unsure of RPM's). Right after first gear it kicks in the sound is really good. $113 through AutoCarParts.com.
