enough silicone on cleared headlights?

today i cleared my headlights and when caulking the silicone on the one side i put a normal bead of caulk around the border but then on the next side i put alot more just incase should i go back andtake the first one out again and put more silicone in there or leave it alone....will moisture get in? wil they fog up eventually? or just wait till they do and fix it then?

I just did mine like a week ago. I put it in the groove where all the black stuff was then on the outside where the clear plastic butts up to the black plastic ( similar to the picture above ). Haven't had any problems.

To me it looks like you've got enuff silicone. I've helped clear the headlights of 3 cars now. As long as you got the silicone in the grove where the original silicone was and when you pushed the two pieces together and silicone kinda squeezed out, then you should be OK. But if someday it starts to fog, you can try putting silicone around the edges first and if that doesnt work do the job over.

BTW...my friend bought this silicone from a car shop and the tube indicated that the silicone in that particular bottle was only good for temps up to 100 degrees. Since we live in TX this would definately not do. Remember to check the labels of your silicone. Make sure that it's the STRONG stuff. Nice job on your lights.

I would do it right away...cause if cops around you are like the ones around here, they will jump on that right away...plus it saves ya the pain of having to change the bulb if you do get a warning, better to be safer than sorry and respect the cops...

I dont know where you're from or what the laws are there. Here in TX my friends put hyper white turn signals in their cleared out lights. THey havent been stopped yet, but then again they just might be lucky because I have no clue what the law is about clear turn signals. I thought they were legal cuz some cars come with clear turn signals stock.

But if you want to risk it, just put a white light in. If you get stopped, the most a cop will do is warn you.

At least where I'm from it's legal to have your turn signals amber or white. When I clear my head lights i'm going to put some hyperwhites in.

i cleared them last night and today when i was done driving around i noticed that there was alot of moisture inside so i called a friend and asked him and he said to just take it apart and do it again making shure to use more silicone caulk. so i did i used the whole tube some on the groove inside and the rest on the outside making shure that there were no holes should they be good now and free of moisture or do some of yours still get moist inside?? i just wanna make shure that no moisture gets on those halogen bulbs so they don';t explode.. i don't really wanna buy new headlights @ $219.49 a peice.

people with all their problems. Well, I do not know if it is living in the Bay Area or not, but I cleared my headlights about 8 months ago. I have had no problems, I did not use silicon or the oven. Did everything in the garage and took me only 20 minutes to do the first one and 10 to the next.

yeah i did it like two weeks ago. i used the o.g silicone but just squeezing it together. then to be safe i just added a layer of silicon. I didn't feel that i needed alot so i just put enough to have one layer of silicone. Just look over the silicone and see if there are gaps or holes if so reapply and cover it. Oh and try not to keep the headlights open for long. cuz moisture could get trapped inside and you just silicone sealed it in.

I've had my clear lights with hyper white blinkers. So many people are using these bulbs that the cops just dont care much. maybe... Many cops have already seen my bulbs in action and they dont say anything. Other places are much stricter tho so just be careful.

WHite and amber are the only colors allowed to be emitted from the front of a vehicle, i dont believe either that it is a law to have blinkers in the front of a vehicle, some cars come factory with out front blinkers, so if you have white blinkers how can they give you a ticket??
