So whats up with GUDE?

Wasn't there 3 people on this forum that were installing the GUDE package? What is the status? Installation complete yet? Thanks for any updates.

Well, I got everything pretty squared away. There is one prob that I dont know if its me or not, but when I sit at stop lights for long time and then it changes, and I get on the gas, the car seems to want to stall and then very slowly it starts to go. Its really weird but my mechanic thinks that its the camshaft doing that crap. Anyways, I know for a fact that there is no way that I'm gettin 45 hp to wheels. I notice a slight increase in power once I get the car going, but the prob I have is really weird. I dont know if its me or the car. I even tried dumping the clutch and then all the car came REALLY close to stalling but it finally went. Thats what's happening to me right now and ill try to keep you guys posted. Also, this weekend ill go and get the car dynoed. Im 99.9999999% sure there is no way I got 45 hp to the wheels that they were advertising. Maybe like 20 or so.

it does up the compression, so i'd assume 93 pump octane is a safe bet

That would suck for me because the highest octane we get around here is 91

gude's been doing this for years, so maybe they'll get all the bugs worked out eventually. i guess that's the bad thing about getting a brand new product.

Sorry guys, I ran into some trouble this weekend and the car is still not running right. Its weird. At most stop lights I stop at, and then when the light turns green, my car wont accelerate the way it used to. Its almost like it wants to stall, but then very slowly it will accelerate at like 3500-4500 rpms, its really weird, i cant explain it in words you would just have to drive my car to see what I mean. Im guessin that either the a/f mixture isnt correct or they setup the head so that it would have $hitty low end and great high end. I still havent been able to get it up past 5k rpm's because of work and such, but I WILL be gettin the car dynoed next weekend for sure. Sorry about the wait guys but Im still guessin that it wont be worth to do in the long run.

No problem, keep us updated if you can. It really sucks that your car isn't running well with the Gude package. I was hoping Gude would have been able to deliver .

MOST regrinded cams are best on the top end. I'd try upgrading your ECU.. most of Gudes head packages come with an upgrade.. ours doesn't. Also, someone made a post a while back about how you can send your cam into Crower.. and they can actually weld on to your cam as well as regrind it so you can have it customized for your needs. apparently.. you like to drag race like the rest of us.. so you'd probably want more low end speed where most of us are lacking. The cam from crower runs about $520

VeNoMsCiViC- this is a classic problem when tweeking engines. Our car's engines are meant to be a true daily driver, when GUDE or any company really starts messin with the engines they claim to get the 40+hp but it sacrifices the reliability of our car's engine as a daily driver. I talked with my dad about it and he said this is what a lot of race cars do when they wanna add some more hp, it works for a race or somethin, but resulting in a breakdown when they try to use the cars as daily drivers. I would try contacting GUDE and see what they have to say, best of luck

I dont think gude will give out any info on their product. My mechanic wanted to know the numbers for the cam, and he told my mechanic that he would have to regrind another cam for him to know that, which is complete bull $hit because he should know know the numbers for the cam so that he can know where and what to grind the cam too, but its been nothing but trouble from them.

Jhonda has a little shameless behaviour in the past
THey sent me a new one just the head and the throttle body but I have not got the money to put it on. The first one they sent me is still on I had the same problem as veniom did with the slow start when at a stop light but not that bad mine pulls good around 2700. But with the new head bill asked me where i lost most of my HP at and I told him from about 1000-3000 so maybe he didn't port the exhaust ports so much this time that can make you lose bottom end, I will inform everyone when I get the new head put on.

Now that I think about it, it may because that I am running with a test pipe too. Maybe since theres no back pressure thats what giving me such bad start offs, oh well my top end is really good though. Since there is no low end, when the rpm get to about 3500-up, it also feels like a very, very, very small turbo kickin in. Nothing spectacular like 45 hp, but some hp gain is noticable. I was also thinkin about gettin one of those tunable exhaust units and maybe some how hookin it up with the throttle cable so when I step on the gas more, it would open the throttle body and the exhaust unit too. I dont know if that would work or not, let me know.
