I know Circuit City is pretty good w/ alarms. My friend had his clifford installed there like 3 years ago and just last year something went wrong w/ it. Since CC didn't carry clifford anymore they gave him and installed a brand new viper alarm which was a better model and had more features than the clifford. The install was very good too, wires were nicely done. I would get it from a big chain like CC or BB because their customer service is usually alot better than some of the smaller shops.

If you want a very good alarm and if you're in the Vancouver Region, the compuStar alarm with remote everything (includes paging unit 1/2 Mile radius ) it's going for $799 CAD + install (retail price) but my buddy here that also sells it and installs it will do it for $650 no tax including full install.

www.compustar.org

It's one of the most highend alarms on the market right now.

I got a Black Widow alarm installed from Best Buy a couple weeks ago. They did a really good job and it works great. The price was reasonable too, $180 for the alarm and installation. BTW, the alarms I saw at Circuit City were expensive and crappy, Best Buy has better ones.

How do you figure the alarms @ Circuit City are crappy?

my friend got a Matrix 3 alarm installed through best buy and when he took his car home, he noticed dents all over the top of the car and door....he told me he saw them testing the alarm out but it didnt look like they were hitting it THAT hard.....IMO, i'd say go to a place that specializes in installing alarms!!!!

It depends on which one you go to. I used to work at Best Buy when I lived in Iowa and the car stereo install department was really good there. They kept my car there over night to make sure everything was right and I was helping them. Just make sure whoever you take it to knows what they are talking about.

um, i realize this is a year and a half later, but phlipsidez, how did your alarm turn out? I was thinking of getting a compustar, but it'd definitely be more convenient for me to go to either best buy or circuit city...

if someone wants your car bad enough, they'll get it. it doesn't matter what kind of alarm you have, they only detour thieves to a certain point if at all. i basically got my alarm because i was tired of scratching the paint where the keyhole was, and for the remote door locks. for the money i paid for it, it wasn't that much more to get the alarm included. i paid $250 for a aftermarket one at a honda dealership, and thought i was getting an oem alarm. after raising hell!... i told them i wanted a LIFETIME WARRANTY on it (yes.. it was a big deal, the parts manager had to come out to resolve the problem) and i got it in writing! anything goes wrong... they fix it! not a big deal though... aftermarket ones are just as good.
