HID PROBLEM WITH H4 BULBS

I was speaking to some guy and he told me that with the stock headlights, if you get any hid kit, you will lose your HIGH BEAMS, because its the same bulb in our cars for low beam and high beam... that kinda sucks IMO

Did anyone ever here this before?

I've heard the same. I think that's true for all cars with HID though..

nooo stock cars do have it, ok like for example acura 3.2 tl
it has it because it has seperate bulbs for low beam, and high beam!
LEXUS IS300, same thing it has HIDs, but the high beam is just a reg. bulb, so basically when they come stock they are like 9005 or 9006 bulbs, not h4s ever

Now tell me wtf would you need high beams for with a HID kit? They're so damned bright already that there's no need for the high beams. Honestly, how often do you use your high beams anyway?

I heard that it's bad for HID's to be turned off and on very quickly, so I wouldn't want them as my high beams. I agree with Taz that High Beams would be kind of pointless with HID's . But when you sell your Civic someday to buy the 8th gen, just take out the HID kit and "Presto!", you've got your high beams back on the old 'vic, and HID's on the new one .

Off topic sort of:

I'm a fan of HID low beams, and bright yellow high beams. I don't know why I told everyone that, but there ya' go!

(If you really wanted high beams, couldn't you just split the wires?)

I've got H4 HID's and suffer from High beam deprivation. Yeah right! Seriously im never gonna go uphill long enough to cry for the loss. I feel sorry for those who think this is a good excuse for not retroing HIDs. its not so hard to switch back to stock and pass inspection. Switching to HIDs is easier than changing the 194/168 pushin parking like on the side of your head lights. Whole process took me 5 minutes or less and imediately i was bursting with fruit flavors driving around wid my bling blings. LOL

i have hid's and i don't have high-beam anymore.
and the other thing about turning on and off frequently, if you do that a lot, it shortens your bulb life. That's why it's considered bad if you turn on/off too much. If you do get hid's make sure you get the right shield for the bulb, you don't wanna blind everyone on the road.
