Lower Control Arm Replacement Part- Hon
Lower Control Arm Replacement Part- Hon
Hi Guys,
I've got a 2002 civic coupe with 105K miles, and I need some front lower control arm replacements. My dealership is quoting me $1400 for all the work including alignment , while my local shop says $900. But for both the parts are 270 each or 230 each respectively . This seems really high, but I went looking for the Honda parts online, and actually that isn't far off from what I'm seeing online. I found one place listing at 170.
So I've checked rockauto.com. I'm not used to aftermarket parts, but the prices are certainly compelling. The ones I'm most considering are the Beck/Arnley, Deeza, Ray Bestos, and ACDelco. These guys run from 60 to 80 each, so a fraction of the cost. So how good are these aftermarket parts and how do I know which are the best quality? I don't want these arms failing in 50 K miles. All help greatly appreciated!

No, just rusted I think. Didn't look at them myself, but the car makes a clunking sound whenever I go over a bump, so the bushings are bad as well the arms. I'm not doubting the arms are bad. I'm just debating between OEM arms that I think are stupid expensive, and after market where I'm not sure on the part quality.

I generally always stick with OEM parts. Junk yard might be an option.
If the bushings are bad then all you need is to get new bushings pressed in. Same amount of labor since you have to remove the lca's anyway but bushings are cheaper.
LCA is not a hard DIY if you are up to that option.

Yea, I watched a youtube video on how to do it, and it doesn't really look that difficult. The problem is I live in an apartment and don't have the necessary tools (ie. lift or jack and jack stands). I'm really not that interested in making the investment in tooling right now since I don't really have anywhere to put it. Otherwise I would do it myself.

If the arms are not damaged, getting energy suspension bushings are you best option as far as price and performance.
