Question Exhaust Question

I have been bouncing this for around and here is what I need help with,

I need a muffler, but I don't need it loud, just deep and cheap. I hear that the magnaflow is the best way to go. True? What is the resonator? What does it do. If I get the muffler should I have bigger pipe ran the whole way? Does the muffler come with a resonator or does it just come on the cat back? Help me out here.

Eric

just get a pipe with 2.25" if your car is NA because if you have bigger pipe youll loose power but if you a have turbo then you can have bigger pipes...the resonator reduces the noise...most catback come with resonators...magnaflow is just right for your taste....i hope this help you out... seach helps alot....

yea catbacks and mufflers sound different on most of em....catback=paying for a little bit more performance while muffler=paying for sound. Yea i love My Mag Catback very nice and not to loud...fits flush and nice from the rear. I got pics there at home though....i'll upload when i get home.

no its not the same...i have mine welded....almost like an axle back not too loud but now i have tsudo n1 cat not much hp gains not unless i have headers and down pipe...if you want a cat back the bigger the pipe compared to stock which makes the car breath better...if welded it means your using the stock pipe and resonator wich is cheaper...but i advice you if you want it temporary just weld it on your stock and if you have enough money then have a custom pipe....

cool,

here is the thing. i care nothing about performance, I just dont want it to be loud. so would just the muffler work well. also about the resonator. if i get just the muffler it wont have on right? would it sound ok without it?

basicly im askin........ will the muffler sound close to the catback? remember i dont care about performance.

also should i have new 2 1/4 inch pipe ran through if i get just muffler?

The best sounding exhuast in my opinion is the RSR ExMag full cat. It sounds quiet but good at the same time.... it has that deep low sound. If I was ever to get an exhaust for the looks I would only go with the RSR cuz it actually sounds quiet and looks good.

rsr has a new exhast out but it looks like it may be louder since it has a round style vs oval muffler on the exmag

Dude, if you just want just sound and looks, just grab an axleback. Way cheaper than a full catback, and depending on which one you get, not as loud. I have a generic fireball style axleback and the sound is perfect - nice and deep on low throttle, and when you get higher up in RPM, it doesn't even scream....the intake is louder at that point. I had a Ractive (yes, I know, Ractive is cheap ****) before and it sounded almost exactly the same.

does anyone know where i can get a sound clip of the magnaflow with our car. magnaflow.com has them but not of our car.

so now that i have decided to have it welded on would it be benificial to have 2 1/4 inch pipe ran from the cat back? basicly for a better sound. would it make it louder?

your just gonna have to expeirence it...it may not be as bad as it seems. To bad the magnaflows went up in price for the full catback....cause they are nice and quiet.
