you will lose SOME low end, but it isn't noticble. you have to rev over 4k to even make the intake audiable. but, like everyone else has said, go for the cai.

Either way your not gonna feel the power in our civics. If you want it to be louder get a sri. If you want that little extra 1 or 2 hp get the CAI

Weaponx12o is on a distinguished road
SRI's lose low end torque, while CAI is the same throughout the whole powerband (you dont lose anything with a CAI at least i dont think so). the reason is because the SRI sucks in hot air since it's closer to the engine. the CAI gets in, what else, cold air which is more efficient. if you want a good *performance* SRI, you need the K&N FIPKII. it has a heat shield, so the hot air from the engine wont affect it.

im not 100% sure about this info, but thats what i have read. someone correct me if im wrong

Put on an SRI and you will lose noticable power below 3000rpms. I had an AEM intake and went back to stock. Now it feels faster with better throttle response. Also, the SRI is extremely noisy, especially when the pedal is pressed down.

yeah what exactly do you mean by extremely noisy? if you're buying any type of intake for a civic you're not going to feel a noticeable difference. I have a AEM SRI on my 02 coupe m/t and it sounds great, i'm very pleased with the sound. if you dont want a loud intake then don't buy one because with civics they don't do much else besides make noise. And don't be worried about getting water in your engine, just by bypass valves and problem solved. If you're going for looks get the SRI because you can see the K&N filter sitting on the top of the engine bay instead of a CAI which goes down to the bottom of the body. AEM SRI works great for any application unless you want a quiet car.

weel its not too risky to get a CAI, unless you plan on going through puddles that reach just below your headlight. the CAI mounts right behind your front bumber left side so it shouldnt be aproblem with regular rain, sleet or snow
