Screeching on Driver's Side 2007 Civic
Screeching on Driver's Side 2007 Civic
I just started hearing a loud screeching noise while driving a ways on Friday night. It had nothing to do with turning or breaking. After a while it stopped and started. Now I hear it upon first starting the car and driving. I brought it to the mechanic and he drove it around. I don't even think the noise was happening then but he said it needed a right front axel repair and that the ___ broke and it leaked. This is an 2007 4 door Honda Civic with approx. 64,600 miles. I take very good care of the car. I also just had the a/c repaired which was blowing hot air. What causes the axle to be replaced and how do I know this is accurate. This noise has nothing to do with breaking.

Yes it happens while driving. Not necessarily turning but going straight. I drove a bit yesterday and nothing. Im going to drive a bit more today so I will see what happens.

Do you have to deal with any gravel roads ??
Sometimes a piece can get caught between rotor and splash guard.
At 65k your front pads should be inspected though.
If you ripped a boot you would have a fair amount of grease thrown, and should be easily visible with a good flashlight for the axle.

If you think a good mechanic is expensive, try hiring a bad one
