2011 Not coasting/decelerates immediately

I just bought a 2011 civic and it seems that when I let go of the accelerator at around 20 - 30 miles the car feels like it is still in 2nd gear and slows down significantly. My expectation would be the car would coast for a few seconds, but it immediately starts to decelerate. Is this normal?

might have stuck brakes. try to do some driving without using the brake pedal, then slowly coast to a stop and feel the rotors/drums. if they are hot, something is stuck.

Where does it feel like it normally switches to third? A little above 30mph? If so it's probably normal. Read your owners
's manual, it may have some info or helpful tips on how the transmission works.

Re: 2011 Not coasting/decelerates immediately

those 06+ auto trans shift thru gears very quickly. at 20 mph it may be in third already, but def by 25mph. thats one thing that really annoyed me is if you accelerate slowly, you will be in 4th already at 25mph and have no power unless you make the thing downshift again. drove me crazy.
