high mileage 2006 Civic
high mileage 2006 Civic
I'm in the market for a used Civic in Austin, TX. I came across a metallic Titanium 2006 Civic 4DR LX with manual transmission having 103400 miles on it, offered for $9900. According to Carfax, it has only had one (personal) owner in Texas. The Carfax title history is clean. Edmunds.com gives a dealer retail price (True Market Value) of $8055.
Honda Civics are apparently due for timer belt and water pump replacement at 105000 miles, and this one has not had such replacements. That's $700 or more in immediate maintenance costs (please correct me if this is incorrect). So it seems to me that at $9900, this Civic is overpriced.
Another thing that worries me is that the Carfax report doesn't list any maintenance information for this Civic, so it's hard to know how well it has been looked after. The last odometer reading was at 78747; i.e. it went for 25000 miles without an odometer reading.
What do others think? I would appreciate any tips and comments.

Re: high mileage 2006 Civic
mine 02 got at 90k now...
no miantenance records worry too.
the price for timing belt plus get water pump should be around 800, among other things, i guess, not sure what else is recommended on the 8th generation - overpriced? prolly...

Re: high mileage 2006 Civic
I bought a 2002 civic DX sedan 5 speed one owner with 98k miles, for 5,000$ straight cash. Timing belt and water pump was 450$ because I had spark plugs and new gaskets installed.
for nearly 10 grand with 103k miles is was too much money i think. Try to go lower to like 7,000$, a newer car is newer, but that doesnt mean it has to be 5,000$ more than mine was for only 4 years newer.
Keep looking and see what you can find. One owners is very important to me, thats why i bought my civic.
best of luck,
matt

Re: high mileage 2006 Civic
I currently have a 2006 ex manual with 156k original miles. Although it needed a tranny rebuild at 150k(due to previous owner abusing it, all I had to do to it was replace the clutch. So far, it been very reliable and fun to drive.
