D light on gauge cluster stays off?
D light on gauge cluster stays off?
Hello I'm having an issue with the D light on the dash in my 02 Civic EX. At first it would work as normal when put into drive and light up. However, now it rarely comes back on while I'm already driving? I replaced all the bulbs in the cluster, not sure what to do next since I'm still having the issue. Any help would be great thanks!

Re: D light on gauge cluster stays off?
If the transmission also shifts funny or takes off slow from a stop like it's stuck in 3rd gear when the light goes out, I'd guess at the PRNDL switch (range switch) needing further checking. There could be a related code too, check into it.
If you can wiggle the shifter back and forth and get the light to come back on, then definitely look closer at the PRNDL switch.
If the trans still acts correct when the light goes out, I'd suspect a problem within the light or its circuits.
A scanner is the first thing I'd grab, see if the datalist still shows the correct PRNDL switch range as selected after the light goes out...and go from there.
