Rear Brake noise

Hi guys im hoping you can help me with this fault.
I bought a secondhand civic 1.4 X reg which has been well serviced but ever since having it ive always noticed a noise from the rear brakes, like a grating noise.I assumed it was the pads rubbing against some corrosion on the discs and and that it would sort itself out but instead its got worse to the point i stall the car when reversing! When i realised the rear offside disc was extremelt hot i thought i should sort it.
I took off both rear wheels and have familiarised myself with the bits but i would like to know what i should do first.

Haynes manual has been ordered.

Thanks in advance

Re: Rear Brake noise

I had a similar issue on my '06, the rear pads wouldn't fully release from the disc. Disc got hot, pads were worn unevenly, etc. I thought it was a frozen caliper at first, but after looking at everything, I found that the slides for the calipers needed to be lubed as well as the metal pieces that the pads slide on. The metal pieces that the pads contact should be either replaced or cleaned really well and then lubed with brake grease. Mine were so corroded with build up they wouldn't allow the pads to return to their resting position after being compressed. This is a way cheaper fix than having to replace a caliper, if you can compress the caliper, it's not frozen.

Re: Rear Brake noise

Sticking caliper or inside of the rubber brake hose at the caliper is deteriorated and frayed inside not letting fluid by properly
