Removing passenger seat

Hello all, I'm new to this forum and working on my car in general, I've got a 2005 DX and would like to remove the passenger side seat. I've read that it may be necessary to disconnect the battery and wait a few minutes before unplugging the electrical cables underneath the seat to avoid problems. Any thoughts on this?

Re: Removing passenger seat

I've removed seats (in my 2002) without disconnecting the battery with no issues. I think that's more of a safety assurance for people that have side airbags.

Protip: If you decide to leave the seat out when you go to turn on your car, at the very least, take the buckle assembly off the seat base and plug [the srs plug on the seatbelt] in. Resetting the SRS light is a slight pain in the ***. Very DIY doable, but still an unnecessary headache

Thumbs up Re: Removing passenger seat

Thanks xRiCeBoYx ! I think what I'd read about was the SRS light issue that you mentioned, since I plan to leave the seat out i'll make sure to plug the SRS cable from the seatbelt assembly in before starting the car. Cheers from South Florida.
