The ebay brand intakes are cheap and you get what you pay for. The piping is good but the filters that come with them are complete junk. If I where you I would change the filter on it with a aem one.

The breather acts as a vacuum for part of the head. It helps the oil flow through the head right and when that vacuum is gone then it can mess things up by not getting enough lub in that area causing friction which is bad.

I think he is referring to the fact it is in the front bumper, so it should give him colder air.
Brobo,
do never drive into water puddles... This design seems a lot more likely to suck water in the intake...

because Injen and AEM don't have CAIs that take a suction from the same source.. Oh, wait. lol
But yea. on a D17, an SRI and CAI don't really have that big of a change. I was paranoid about hydrolock, so I opted for the short ram, an AEM V2, more specifically. My filter pwns your filter

dast... mine is a cai... did not care much in TN, but have seem rain everyday up here, and the snow (won't affect hydrolock, but no need for cold air up here...)

I was paranoid because when it rains in vegas, we get flash flood warnings, and when I was stationed in south carolina, it was hurricane season. lol

Oh, and when I was stationed in WA state, we had some crazy *** rain that made me drive through a foot-deep river to get to work. If I had a CAI, I woulda been f'd

There's no bypass on your piping = sucking water when you hit puddles. Or, did you ever think the heat coming off the road might actually make it worse? Not to mention all that piping and bends is going to disrupt the airflow and potentially makes it worse than a stock airbox. IMO these set-ups are the most retarded thing I have ever seen. Why don't you just run it out your fender and up your A pillar like a Jeep snorkel?? At least you wouldn't have to worry about hitting puddles... And you'd still have the gayest/worse intake ever.

Re: Best Em2 01-05 Civic INTAKE EVER!!!
interesting points. also i have felt other ppls "cold air" pipes before and they are still too hot to touch like my sri. and the longer the pipe, the more the hot pipe has a chance to heat up the air. when i look thru my grill, i can see the intake filter so that means its still getting fresh air without all the fuss.

Re: Best Em2 01-05 Civic INTAKE EVER!!!
Come to think of it, my intake pipe really hasn't been too hot to the touch. I'm pretty sure my hood prop gets hotter than my intake pipe. Thank jeebus for that little foam piece they put on it.
If you really wanted to cool off the air going into it, I've seen CO2 cooling kits for intake pipes. But they're stupid expensive and I could only imagine how often you'd need to get the CO2 bottle filled to maintain it
If your really wanted to go crazy, you could fab up something that tapped into your A/C system to cool off either the incoming air or the piping, but I'm sure the extra strain on your engine would negate or even outweigh any performance gains.

Re: Best Em2 01-05 Civic INTAKE EVER!!!
he can always transform that CAI into an SRI if he wanted to.. Just take off the second pipe and slip the filter on the top pipe. If it fits, that is.
Re: Best Em2 01-05 Civic INTAKE EVER!!!
I have a Weapon-R Secret Weapon SRI. It is great intake. Doesn't get as hot as some may say SRIs get. CAI just restricts a lot of air because of the long piping.
