Whats your RPMs at?

Wondering what all of your rpms are going at 70mph, with stock wheels
(15s-hubbies or fat-fives) on a 2004-2005 Civic EX 1.7 Manual 5spd. Seems like mine are kinda high.

Re: Whats your RPMs at?

Yeah mine are in the 3k range around 70mph, just thought man, i think its reving pretty high for 3k, didnt know if it was normal or not, guess it is, taking into consideration that most foreign cars redline pretty high too.

How come ... Most of us are getting way better speed at that Range. Im guessing its time for a tune-up.

Re: Whats your RPMs at?

it is normal to be that high too because i bought my car from the honda dealership with 13000 miles on it and it was a certified used vehicle that ran perfect and still does. The car runs the same rpms now as it did then and still gets over 30 miles per gallon.

Re: Whats your RPMs at?

Just a note, I'm pretty sure your rpms will be different depending on whether you have an automatic or 5spd. I think the auto's rev lower than the 5spd. I'm pretty sure they do, but not 100% on that.

Re: Whats your RPMs at?

I know what caused it i think ..im not 100% but at less 90% confident that im right .. if not correct me please..
Im talkin about manual civic here.. mine is 03 civic ex wit aem v2 intake ...**** runnin around 3700-3900rpm at 80mph .. around 3200-3400rpm at 69mph but yea i still get 32-34 miles per gallon of gas...
My friend owned a 04 civic ex. stock intake ..**** only runnin 2500rpm at 65mph ..holy ****in **** maan.. he gets over 38miles per gallon.
As result, i assume that intake affact ur RPM range the most. and im just talkin about 7th gen civic here .. not any other type.

Re: Whats your RPMs at?

um no mods besdies tire size can affect your gear ratio
thats nonsense...
if you had a 600 hp civic and the same tranny it would still run the same RPMs at the same speed. unless its an auto and you have a different TC

um my auto runs at 3200 at 80 mph but im getting really bad gas mileage now i dont know why... it seems everyone is getting 30+ and im having a hard time getting 30 last i checked was 19 but i was sitting alot on the laptop

Re: Whats your RPMs at?

Basics:
2001 Honda Civic
D17a2
5 speed

Ok no bull **** guys I drive from Atlanta to Charleston S.C. now 2 times a month for a year. That’s 335 miles each way. I set cruse control at 84 miles an hour and drive a minimum of 2.2 hours between fuel ups. My RPM on flat road is 3950 to 3970 (I have a small digital shift light that reads a precise RPM and my stock that appears to match that number less the 20 RPM bounce. I also get (going to Chas S.C. 36.7 and in winter I get 38.5) miles to the gallon. Coming home (Atlanta) I get 41.3 and winter it averages 44.5 I want to point out that this is a combined average of the past year. Some thing else I want to say I’m not stock and I often hit 120 and above a few time during “every” trips. Lol its amazing that even old guys will do hwy pulls with you ha,ha.
