how to (tdc) my cam

Ok I'm a novice mechanic and I was changing a head gasket, I heard u didn't have to top dead center the cam if ur just changing the gasket or remove the dissy. Turns out I had a chipped valve so I started to remove rocker arm assembly. I accidentally turned the cam. So my question is now that the cam is turned how do to sync my cam and engine to top dead center

Re: how to (tdc) my cam

If you're taking off the timing belt, always set to TDC. Better safe than sorry.

With the head off, set the head to TDC and set the crank to TDC on cylinder 1.

Thanks I'll do that today and I'll head out to AutoZone and get one. My father is a mechanic but don't have the time to help 14 years exp.
