Clunk in the front end.

I recently changed the bushings on the upper and lower front end control arms on my 95 DX. I changed them along with my halfshafts, rotors and brakes, after putting everything back together I noticed a "clunk" sound when driving that was not there before. I checked to make sure everything was tightened and I can not duplicate the sound on the lift. It seams to happen when I go over bumps, seamingly random, and when i make turns and braking at the same time. Can anyone please help with this, I don't want to keep driving it if something is on the verge of breaking.
Thanks.

Re: Clunk in the front end.

CV axles maybe..if its making a clicking sound while turning and going over bumps .. or a long shot but maybe a lower motor mount..

Re: Clunk in the front end.

I don't have any clicking just the occasional clunk. like a loose bolt in the LCA or something. I have it up right now changing the headers. I will have to look some more. Any other ideas?

Re: Clunk in the front end.

Probably the top mount bushing(s) but, it could be the mount itself (#8). Also, make sure the bolts on top of the strut tower are tight.

Check numbers 7, 10, and 12 as well as 8:

Re: Clunk in the front end.

I checked all of these bolts and they are all tight. I also looked around the LCA's bushings, which i changed and I don't see any marks or any signs of movement on any of the bolts or nuts. I am really stumped on this. It is only the front end. Here is what I have changed on the front:
  • Both CV Axles
  • Brake pads
  • Brake rotors - slotted & drilled
  • Brake lines - Stainless
  • LCA bushings - both sides to urethane
  • upper ball joint bracket bushings
  • Ball joint boots - all urethane, came with the Energy Suspension kit.

That is all for the suspension. I had to remove the shock/springs when I did the axles but never disassembled them, just took them out as one piece and put them back when I was done.

Other unrelated mods:
  • MSD ignition coil
  • MSD distributor cap
  • MSD wires
  • AEM Cold Air Intake
  • All new ground 8ga wire
  • New alternator
  • New Headers

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

Read post #5. Yes, you have to take the strut assembly apart to inspect. A spring compressor is required.
