Rep Power: 0 ABS code 54 fail safe relay ?
hello everyone
well after pulling the codes fron my 1998 civic coupe d16y7 ( 2 pin self diagnose )
i got some ABS codes one of them was 54
the fail safe relay
i searched all over the internet to find where is this relay
didnt find an answer or which one needs to be changed exactly
someone suggested to check the ground wires
i did and every thing were okay
i tried to reset the abs
after couple days i checked and pulled the codes
it still there
so can you guys help where the heck is this relay so i change it.
there is no ABS light but if i pull the codes i get code ( 54 )
when I brake hard i feel a vibration at the front left wheel or when i brake across a hump in the street at low speed.
pads and rotors are new .
any help ?
thanks and happy new year.

If you think a good mechanic is expensive, try hiring a bad one

Seems like faults that were related to something other than wheel speed had to be cleared with a scanner.

If your ABS warning light is NOT on and the system does activate during an intentional skid or wheel slip, it would appear the system functions and the code you found is probably just a history code.

well i think there is some codes
because when i reset it i tried to pull the codes again to see if there is some thing left in the memory
there wasn't any codes
after couple of days i pulled the codes
the 54 code came back
when i turn the ignition on the light came then turn of as normal . when i crank the engine the light will come back for a sec then turn of .

17, 18 left rear wheel speed sensor problem
54, fail safe
61 Ignition voltage
In my wiring diagrams (for models in North America) the only external relay for ABS is labeled "pump motor relay", in the small fusebox on the right front strut tower in front of the battery
All other components look to be inside either the ABS control unit, or the ABS modulator assembly.. Last step in the code 54 trouble chart is replace the control unit
