I got a 2000 civic ex that the old owner gave up on..
They put a 97 non vtec engine and reused the 2000 intake manifold .

there is a loud air leak coming from the top of the manifold were it meets up with the head.. when i spray carb cleaner it rev's up. not in just one spot the whole top of the manifold seems to be sucking it up..

i put a new gasket on but it did not fix and old one looked like it was ok.

its a very loud air sucking noise.

is the problem the 2000 vtec manifold on a 97 non vtec head?

Intake is ok the vac lines were not installed right...

I cant get the car to run right.. it will backfire if I hit the gas, and runs ruff!!

ive checked spark/wire/cap.. cleaned injectors. I get 150psi ish in all cylinders.

this car sat for 5 months, but ran this way when it was parked.

I put new head gasket on but it did not need one. .

ive checked timing [with gun and on the pulleys]

this is a 2000 ex with a d16y7 installed.

ok so I got the video.. its cold out and the car is running better.. it sounds like its running on 3 cylinders in the vid. its running better in this video. normally it will want to stall if I hit the gas like this..
