Angry weird issue.. help please!

soo my 99 auto civ barely starts.. and then if it does it will stall out shortly after... but the catch.. it only does this during the day.. it starts up and runs perfectly fine at night. it'll stall out occasionally during the evening but starts right back up.. i can drive for HOURS at night when its chilly outside.. but when its hot out im lucky to even move it 10 feet. over the last month or so i've changed the plugs, wires, rotor button, distrub cap and took my SRI off and put the stock back on (thought it had heatsoak).i had it scanned for any errors on the comp twice by 2 different mechanics.. nothing is coming up, so its not a sensor and its not electrical.. . i've replaced my fuel filter about 6 mths ago, .. my car has been stalling out randomly for a year during the day.. but its to the point now where i can drive it anymore.. help please!! im getting sooo discouraged.

Call your local Honda dealer and give them the VIN and see if there is a recall on your ignition switch.

Re: weird issue.. help please!

i did do that already actually.. there was a recall on my ignition switch.. and it got replaced before i bought the car. had it out today, it stalled out on me once and only took 2 times to get er going again. but i drove it for a couple hours.. working well in the chilly weather today.. i think it may be temperature related, but at the same time maybe they put a faulty ignition on my car!!

Re: weird issue.. help please!

It seems like more then an ignition problem. My Civic did almost this same thing, I put new; fuel pump, fuel filter, ditributor cap, wires, rotor, plugs, coolant temp. sensor, thermostat, rad, air filters and FINALLY after all of this, I put a new O2 sensor in, even know nothing was scanning and the check engine light wasn't on and it fixed the problem.

Not saying this is your problem, but just a thought and maybe some other ideas.

Good luck
Joey

it sounds to me like it is temperature related also i would pull your coolant temp switch and see if that fixes it.

last night i put a new ignition coil in my distributor aswell. so far so good, it worked last night, but the real test is today once i get around to it!! another thing, the other night on my way home from work (at 1am) my car stalled out on me 6 times , its only a 15 minute drive.

When you crank it does it sound like it wants to start?

Have had your battery tested? or possible an alternator problem as well.

Or can be in the distributor. I would have it tested for spark.

Re: weird issue.. help please!

it turns over fine, just doent stay running when i let go of the key... so i bought a whole new ignition. its getting put on and i'll have my car back tomorrow. i think that is my problem. i think this because when i start (|||) and let go it stops running, but if i pull it back a very small amount and keep ahold of the key just about back to (||) it will stay running until i let go of the key. i only did that for a second to ensure it would work as i dont want to rip the starter out, i called my mechanic after and told him that and that i thought it was my ignition.. and he said thats what it sounds like to him. hes looked at it aswell. alternator is good, battery is good aswell as is the distributor. run like a top when she'll stay running!
