OK, this is going to be long.....
2000 HX with 5 speed. was running good but brother wrecked it. Fixed the body but had 120,000 miles with no maintenance. So here is a list of what i replaced.
Battery, EGR, cleaned EGR ports, cleans TB and IACV, spark plugs, all hoses and belts, Timing belt, water pump, thermostat, fuel filter, air filter, all fluids, bank 1 O2 sensor.
drove it from New Orleans to San Fransico. Was running absolutley perfect until we got to Iowa, LA right before Texas. Started jerking back and forth. Thought it was bad gas. but even after 4 tanks was still running rough. Started stalling and pinging and no power. Then as soon as it came it goes.
Check engine light showed misses on all cylinders, egr codes.
I ordered new cap, rotor, coil and wires but will not be in till Thursday.
Can anyone please give any suggestions as to what might be wrong before we send it to the shop. again if car seats for a day or two it runs awesome, but most times it pings jerks and stalls.

what brand of plug did you have in there? ngk or denso i hope.

no I wanted them but the store I went to showed that NGK was not avaliable for my HX. So I just got another set, but cant remember which brand they where, however, I havenever had a car behave this way over a set of plugs, I should mention that when we stopped for coffee in baton rouge, LA the engine was running so smoothly that I thought it was off. No shakes or vibrations at all wasnt even able to feel anything through the steering wheel. smooth as silk.

has anyone needed to replace their MAP sensor? Read where if there is no power below 2-3K range like im suffering from than its the MAP.....

well the engine light should be on if the map sensor was bad. ive seen different brand plugs cause serious problems, so try the $2 ngk plugs before spending money on random parts.

ill give that a shot as well, the parts counter guy said that none of the stores has NGK for the HX models not even in the computer for the VETC-E but has it for VETC 2 whichever that one is. Hopfully the honda stealership across the street can be of help? My ignitor comes in today but my sister is having her baby so it will need to wait.

try sparkplugs.com you can search yourself and prices are pretty good. the ngk v-power copper plugs work great if they have em. iridiums are nice too or worst case the platinum, but stick with ngk or denso brand.

well change of plans....on my way home from walnut creek the engine caught fire! I had to stop in the middle of the road cause the clutch pedal dropped and the engine stalled. Jumped out when i saw the smoke and opened the hood. flames where everywhere! I was lucky that a city worker was next to me and he had an extingisher. I put out the fire but the wire harness is toast and so is the fuel rail and all the parts attached to it!
now to plan B. I have to find all of these parts from a junkyard or ebay or something and try to get the car back on the road!

sorry to hear! that happened to another member but the car was totaled.
