loose shifter

Got a 1998 ex with 255k on it, have a short shifter and it has developed a real lot of side to side play in any gear. i dont know what the cause of this is or if it will be an easy fix or not. any help?

Double check the bolts on the short shifter adapter?, if it is infact an adapter

Get some new shifter bushings, aluminum ones would be even better than rubber.
