catalytic converter
99 civic vp automatic, shop wants $600 to replace the cat. Where can I get a reasonable bolt on? Or what about a test pipe with the o2 sensor mounts so that it wont burn rich? Don't have e-check out here - don't really need a cat.

Re: catalytic converter
Get a test pipe with a defouler or O2 simulator. Either way its going to cost you around 50 bucks to stop the CEL from coming on, the test pipe might cost 150 or so, bout 200 total.
Or you could just put a non fouler on your existing cat/downpipe and keep it on there- it will do a better job of filtering pollutants than no cat at all, and you wont have the downside of being super loud. But to do this, you need to know why the cat needs to be replaced, which you didnt say.
Or... find one at a junk yard- it will be still attached to the chassis and not with the pulled motor.

Re: catalytic converter
The cat leaks. Everybody says it has to be replaced. I found a bolt on for about $150 at car-stuff.com. Just needed to know if anybody knew a better place for this product. Also wanted to know the good/bad of running without a cat.

Re: catalytic converter
Bad:
its loud as hell
its horrible for environment
possibly illegal (in a bunch of states)
you have to trick your car into thinking the cat is actually working as a catalyst by buying an nonfouler.
Good: its cheaper than buying a cat
